FAAS - PPWR Roles & Responsibilities

"Navigating the PPWR can be complex—particularly when defining whether a company operates as a remanufacturer, producer, or a distributor. Our sectoral overview sheds light on typical aftermarket scenarios, supporting companies in avoiding misinterpretation and establishing robust, compliant contractual frameworks."

– Michael Boe, FAAS Chair

FAAS members developed this practical one-page guide to explain the different roles and responsibilities under the PPWR from an automotive aftermarket perspective. Based on the European Commission’s implementation guidance, the document translates the regulatory framework into industry-relevant scenarios. These scenarios draw on recognisable business cases contributed by industry members.

Whether a company places packaged products on the market, imports goods, distributes products, or performs multiple functions within the supply chain, this guide offers a clear and practical starting point for navigating the PPWR.

FAAS invites readers to download the guide below to assess their role, responsibilities, and contractual arrangements in preparation for PPWR implementation. This publication is the second in a series dedicated to the PPWR and can be used in tandem with the PPWR Implementation Timeline to support packaging sustainability efforts.
